Colonel Ed Goebel

Vice Commander, 461st Air Control Wing U.S. Air Force

Colonel Edward G. Goebel Jr. is the Vice Commander of the 461st Air Control Wing, Robins Air Force Base, GA. He is responsible for assisting the Commander with the worldwide employment of the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System aircraft and the Deployable Air Traffic Control and Landing System. The wing trains, mobilizes and deploys combat mission ready aircraft, aircrews and support personnel to designated theaters of operation, and conducts sustained operations providing uninterrupted command, control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in support of the joint force commander.

Col Goebel was a distinguished graduate of AFROTC at the University of South Carolina in 1998. Col Goebel is a Master Air Battle Manager with more than 2,700 hours in E-3A/B/C/G and E-8C aircraft spanning 355 combat and 370 combat support hours. He has flown and supported numerous operations including NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, JOINT GUARDIAN, NOBLE EAGLE, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW    DAWN,    ODYSSEY DAWN, and UNIFIED PROTECTOR. He is married to the former Cori Donley of Charleston, South Carolina and they have one son, Johnathan.
